Meet Moxxi!

This is Moxxi! She came to be part of our family about 2 weeks ago. One of the assistant principals at school found her outside the school and decided to bring her inside and clean her up. I heard a rumor that there was a puppy in the school and immediately went in search of her! When I saw her, I could not believe how cute she was! I sent a picture to Thomas asking if he wanted a new dog. His response: "duh."

A student had expressed interest in taking the unnamed puppy home, saying that her parents said it was okay. I told the teacher who was housing her that I would take the puppy if that fell through. After school, I saw the student who was going to take the puppy home and she told me that her mom said "nope!" I found a ribbon, tied it around the dogs neck and took her outside before loading her in my car.

When we got home, Barli was completely unsure about this new dog! The new puppy was afraid and didn't want to be away from me. Libby, needless to say, stayed WAY far away! When Thomas got home from work, we started brainstorming names for "Puppy Number 2." We settled on Moxxi.

The next morning, I took Moxxi to the vet to have her checked out and get her first set of shots. They told me she was about 12 weeks old and she weighed 16 pounds. She's been a part of our family for almost 3 weeks now. I think Barli is loving having someone to play with while we are at work. They always come inside when we get home and crash on the couch! I'm so glad that I brought home that sweet puppy <3

Oceans

"Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)"

You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand

And I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand
Will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You've never failed and You won't start now

So I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior

I will call upon Your Name
Keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in Your embrace
I am Yours and You are mine
oceans

I love this song, y'all! It has really comforted me recently. School has been rough, but I need to remember to rest in Christ!!

Adios 2013!

Hey y'all! Happy 2014! I have a hard time grasping the fact that it is already 2014. 2013 absolutely flew by. I thought that I would post some highlights from 2013 so I won't forget them!

  • In February Tom and I adopted Barli.
  • On April 12 we celebrated our 7 year anniversary.
  • On May 18 we got married and had a fabulous time celebrating with family and friends.
  • In June I was hired to teach 8th grade math in Arlington.
  • In July we were approved to rent a house in Mansfield.
  • In August we moved into the house and Tom graduated from A&M.
  • Later in August I started teaching!
  • In September Tom started his job at Polk Mechanical.
  • On September 11 Barli had her leg amputated.
  • Throughout the fall we went to a few Texas A&M Football games (Rice, Vanderbilt, UTEP)
  • We celebrated Thanksgiving with my family in Mansfield.
  • Christmas day we ate lunch at an Asian buffet
We have been so incredibly blessed this year. We are so looking forward to see what 2014 has in store for us. I have absolutely loved having these 2 weeks off of work. I definitely needed to have this time to reflect on the first semester of school and what I need to do differently in order to be the most effective teacher I can be during the second semester. Teaching has been a completely different experience than I was expecting. Please continue to pray for me during this second semester. I appreciate it, y'all!
